Volkswagen Rabbit
The Volkswagen Rabbit is the compact car from the Volkswagen company. The Volkswagen Golf mark 1 and 5 are named Volkswagen Rabbit in USA, Canada and Mexico. It is the first successful replacement by the company for the air-cooled Beetle. Most models of the Rabbit were having 3-door and 5-door hatchback style. The popularity of the Rabbit made the hatchback style common in C segment of the cars. The car had been produced by the company since 1974 and it has proven to be the most successful front-wheel drive hatchback.

The Rabbit GTI model was assembled from the parts made in Mexico, Canada, Germany and the U.S. in Volkswagen's Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania assembly plant. The key features for the Rabbit GTI was, squared front end styling, and its alloy "snowflakes" wheels. The interior was available with two options red and blue leather interior. The squared styling of front end and wraparound direction indicator lights gave it mare safety and added performance. When it came first to Canada, it had 1.61 engine and five-speed transmission.
