The Golf was first launched in 1974, but it came into the market in 1975 to 1984 as Volkswagen Rabbit in US and Canada and Volkswagen Caribe in Latin America. The new features were water-cooled, front wheel drive design along with a hatchback. The Golf was marked as the car of the year for 1975 by the Wheel's magazine.
