Pontiac Sunfire
The Pontiac Sunfire was first introduced to the market in 1995 by General Motors and was discontinued in 2005. The Sunfire was built up to 2004 in the Ohio plant, but thee was another plant responsible for production which was located in Mexico. This car is considered to be a compact car and was made to replace the Sunbird. The convertible model, which was built in Michigan, was only sold until the year 2000.
There were three body styles of the Pontiac Sunfire, the 2 door convertible, 2 door coupe and 4 door sedan, all of which were built on the J-body platform. This J body underwent changes during the production years that were designed to improve this platform and to make it meet or even exceed the new safety laws that went into effect during this time period. The Pontiac Sunfire sold around 70,000 cars in North America (specifically Canada and the United States) before being replaced by the G5.
