Pontiac Grand Prix Coupe
The Pontiac Grand Prix Coupe has been produced by General Motors starting in 1962 and will continue to do so until 2008, and then it will be discontinued. The Grand Prix is officially the most sold car of Pontiac since 2007, when the sales topped those of the record selling Bonneville. The Pontiac Grand Prix Coupe was classified as a personal luxury car from 1962 until 1987, and then after undergoing changes it was considered to be a mid-sized car from 1988 until 2008. This car was first built on the A or G (only from 1982 - 1987) body platform, but in 1988 production changed over to the front wheel drive W-body platform. One of the two body styles was the 2 door coupe, which was produced until the end of 2003. The fourth generation of Pontiac Grand Prix which was built between 1978 and 1987 were only built as 2 door coupe and no sedan was available during this time. Starting with this coupe version, there were drastic changes made, and the most noticeable was in the weight. The coupe of 1978 was an incredible 600 pounds lighter than the 1977 model Grand Prix. This newer version was also around 12 inches shorter in length than the previous one.
