Pontiac Grand Am
The Pontiac Grand Am has been a product of General Motors for a long time, but it has not been in continuous production. The first production time period was from 1973 -1975 and the second fro 1978 until 1980, and both of these Grand Am models were classified as mid-sized cars. The Grand Am was once again produced starting in the year 1985 and this time lasted until 2005. This time the Pontiac Grand Am was classified as a compact car.
The first two generations were all built in Pontiac, Michigan and based on the A body platform. They were meant to compete with European imports and were thus equipped and designed to give the impression of being a sports car, however, this did not work due to its size and weight. The last generations of Pontiac Grand Am which were built after 1985 were all based on the N body platform that were assembled in Lansing, Michigan and they were now considered compact cars. There were several engines that could be put into the Grand Am and also manual or automatic transmissions.
