Pontiac Aztek
The Pontiac Aztek was first introduced in 2001 by the Pontiac division of General Motors and was discontinued in 2005. It is classified as a mid-size crossover SUV and was assembled in the plant located in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. The Pontiac Aztek was not as successful as planned and didn't even sell half of the cars expected. The first year was especially disastrous because not only were there not enough cars sold to cover production costs, but the majority of cars sold were internally handled or sold to rental car companies. Although the number of cars sold did not increase over the years, and even decreased, at least more private consumers did purchase the Aztek which helped to somewhat reduce the financial damages. Due to the poor sales statistics, it was somewhat inexplicable that the Pontiac Aztek consistently had high satisfaction rankings amongst its drivers and was considered to have a very appealing interior design.
The Pontiac Aztek was only built as a 4 door SUV on the U body platform. It came with a standard 3.4 L V6 engine and a 4 speed automatic transmission.
