The Mazda Tribute has been built by the Ford Motor Company for Mazda since 2001. The production is still ongoing. The Tribute that is made for the countries that have the driver on the left side of the car is assembled in Missouri, USA whereas the right sided driver models are built in Hofu, Japan.
The Mazda Tribute is classified as a compact SUV. The 5 door version is the only body style available and it is built on the CD2 platform of Ford. The first generation of Mazda Tribute, from 2001 -2007 in North America, has either a 4 speed automatic transmission or a 5 speed manual transmission and two engines, a 2.3 L (153 hp) with 4 cylinders or a 3.0 L V6 (203 hp), to choose from. The second generation which starts with the 2008 models looks different than the first ones and also the interior is made of the most modern equipment and technology available. Although the two engines stay the same, there is now the possibility to have a hybrid engine built into the car.
