Mazda MPV
The Mazda MPV is classified as a minivan and was first introduced to the market in 1989 and it was built until the year 2006. It is still being made today in Japan as the MPV but it will be brought out onto other markets again starting in 2008, and is then called the Mazda8. The Mazda MPV as it is known was discontinued with the 2006 model for North America and Europe, because of it being replaced by crossover SUV models and the Mazda5. It is assembled in the Hiroshima plant in Japan.
The Mazda MPV was a new kind of car back in 1989 because it was not based on a van platform like what other car manufacturers did, but instead based the MPV on their largest car platform and the result was the Mazda LV platform. This platform was used from 1989 until 1998. During this time there were also two different body styles built, the first being a 3 door van from 1989 until 1995 and then from 1996 until 2006 the 4 door van.
