The Chrysler LeBaron Coupe was first introduced to the market in 1977 and was available until 1993.
The first generation Chrysler LeBaron Coupe was built between 1977 and 1986. This coupe was built on the K platform, but that was all changed starting with the 1987 models. At this point the new coupes were built on a J platform and had many new features, such as retractable headlights and a waterfall grille. For this generation of Chrysler LeBaron coupe there were only two base engines to choose from, a 2.2 and a 2.5 L, but Mitsubishi produced a 3.0 L engine that was later used in the coupe starting with the 1990 models. There were, of course, for all these engines a turbocharged counterpart available for the coupe.
The Chrysler LeBaron Coupe was discontinued after the 1993 production year, although they were slightly redesigned for this year and then they were replaced with the Sebring coupe.
