The Chrysler LeBaron was first introduced in 1977 by the Chrysler Corporation and was produced in various trims, models and styles up until 1995. Over the years this car has changed from generation to generation, and one has to examine each generation separately in order to give any information on its class, body styling, etc.
The first generation of Chrysler LeBaron was built from 1977 until 1981 in both Missouri, USA and Ontario, Canada. It was classified as a mid-size car and came as a either a 2 door coupe or 4 door sedan. At this time it was the lowest priced car being sold by Chrysler.
The second generation was produced from 1982 up to 1988 and now the plant in Delaware, USA was responsible for building them. There were however, trim models that were still categorized as mid-size cars and which were made from 1985 until 1989. The models made from 1987 - 1995 were known as the third generation, and now came as either a 2 door coupe or a 2 door convertible and were classified as a sports car.
