The Chrysler Imperial has a large part in car history and has been around for many years. It was first introduced to the market in 1926 and was in production up until 1954 and made a second appearance from 1990 until 1993. It has always been classified as a luxury car and the last models were categorized as full size luxury cars.
The Chrysler Imperial was designed and made by the originator of the Chrysler Corporation, a certain Mr. Walter P. Chrysler. With this car he intended on becoming a part of the luxury car market, and was successful in doing so.
There were many body styles for the Chrysler Imperial and it had a larger than standard engine. Even the first generation of Imperial that was manufactured between 1926 and 1930 had three different styles, including a two door roadster which set a new record for speed and even had the honor of being a pace car for the Indianapolis 500 in 1926, the first year it was out on the market! The most frequently built and popular body style over its long lifespan, however, was the 4 door sedan version.
