Chrysler Conquest:
The Conquest was sold in the United States between 1982 and 1989 and although it was marketed by Chrysler and sold under the Chrysler brand name, it was actually produced by Mitsubishi Motors and is basically the same car as the Mitsubishi Starion.
This car was classified as a sports car and came as a 3 door hatchback coupe on a FR layout platform. The car had a rear wheel drive and there were two body forms available for the consumer. One was known as the narrow and the other as the wide body, and the difference was that the narrow form was sporty and the wide design was comparable to a rally car body. There were two four cylinder turbocharged engines that were used in the Conquest and which provided a wide range of engine power based on the equipping of the engine, e.g. presence of intercooler, and one could choose between a four speed automatic or five speed manual transmission.
The Chrysler Conquest was given good ratings by car industry experts, however, it was not a great selling car and for some reason. It is believed that the new and somewhat strange looking appearance of the car, along with a couple of engine flaws were the main problems.
