About Suzuki

In 1955 Suzilight, a 360 CC two-stroke small car started the Japanese lightweight car age. In the United States the Suzuki Cultus was badged as a Chevy Sprint in 1985, and Suzuki was the highest selling Japanese car company in its first year. The Suzuki Samurai introduced in 1985 was a very popular convertible or hardtop SUV and continued to be popular until it was found that it had a definite tendency to roll over.

In 2004 General Motors and Suzuki joined to purchase Daewoo motors and began producing cars, small wagons and SUVs with rebadged names. Suzuki is one of the few motor companies that have built cars for other major vehicle suppliers such as General Motors, Subaru, Mazda, Nissan and an East India company by the name Maruti Udyog. This ability to produce cars for other major suppliers has kept Suzuki in the market for many years. So besides having its own vehicles Suzuki has had a major part in vehicle manufacturing for almost 100 years.
