GMC Yukon is the first of its kind full-size Sports-utility vehicle manufactured by General Motors. Introduced for the first time in the markets in the year 1992, the SUV has looks resembling closer to Chevy Tahoe. The vehicle was renamed as GMC Yukon in the year 1992 from its earlier name of S-15 Jimmy, with which it was ruling the SUV market since 1982. GMC Yukon, introduced as a new brand in the year 1992, started with two doors and subsequently three years later, in 1995, introduced 4-door vehicle with trims. Following the success of the 4-door version, the company had withdrawn its 2-door design from the year 1999.

In addition to the standard specifications as applicable for the typical SUV, the special features of GMC Yukon include active fuel management, which ensures that the engine of the vehicle seamlessly shift between 4 cylinders and 8 cylinders depending upon the power requirement and ensures improved fuel economy. This special feature has been responsible for GMC Yukon being considered as the most fuel-efficient SUV in the market. Another innovative aspect of the GMC Yukon is rear view camera system, which helps driver have a wider view behind the vehicle.

The braking system in the vehicle is provided with larger rotors having greater stopping ability, which ensures that the quality and feel of the pedal on applying brakes is improved considerably, while at the same time reducing brake noise, and provides a comfortable driving experience to the driver.

The engine of GMC Yukon was initially of V8 type with 5.7-liter capacity and 210 hp power requirements and a seating capacity of 5 to 6 people, at the time of introduction in 1992. It has been subsequently upgraded to 5.3-liter V8 engine and the present seating capacity of GMC Yukon is about 8 to 9 persons since the year 2000.
