Dodge Shadow
The Dodge Shadow was a new compact car that was introduced for the first time in 1987 by the Chrysler Corporation and was intended as a replacement model for the Charger. These cars were built in both the United States and Mexico and were based on the Chrysler P body platform. These cars came in three different body styles: a two door convertible, three door hatchback and five door hatchback. Although technically considered hatchbacks, these cars didn't look like them and instead appeared to be normal sedans or coupes. However, they did offer features of a hatchback, including the larger amount of cargo space and just this feature is what contributed to the popularity, although this popularity did not result in a high profit for the Chrysler Corporation.
Not only was the decently sized cargo room unusual for this type of car, there were also a number of safety features included in the standard package such as the driver airbag. This made the Dodge Shadow the cheapest car available on the market with a standard driver airbag. In 1994 Chrysler discontinued production of the Dodge Shadow.
