Dodge Raider
The Dodge Raider was put out on the market by the Chrysler Corporation from 1987 to 1989. It was categorized into the compact SUV class, and was only available in a two door version.
The Dodge Raider was actually a so-called captive import, meaning it was actually built elsewhere to be imported and then only sold under the Dodge brand. The Raider was in reality built by Mitsubishi Motors and was closely related to other SUV's, such as the Montero or Pajero. Dodge acquired rights to sell the car under its own brand and the reasoning behind this was quite clear, Dodge wanted to compete with other domestic car companies. Companies such as Ford and Chevrolet were already in the SUV market and with the Dodge Raider, the Chrysler Corporation wanted to be a part of this.
