Dodge Aries
Dodge Aries was a mid size automobile launched by Chrysler Corporation in 1981. The production continued till 1989 when Aries was replaced by Dodge Spirit. Dodge Aries was awarded the 'Car of the Year' award by Motor Trend magazine in 1981. Almost one million units were sold for Dodge Aries, making it one of the Chrysler's most successful vehicles along with the Plymouth Reliant. It came in various shapes, including a two door coupe, a four door sedan and a four door station wagon. Dodge Aries was part of the series of K-cars introduced by Chrysler Corporation.
Three trim levels were introduced including Aries Base, Aries Custom, and Aries SE (which stood for 'Standard Edition'). The engine was a 2.2. L I4 SOHC engine. In 1986, the 2.2 L engine went through a change when its carburetor was replace with new system known as throttle body electronic fuel injection system. In 1988, the production of SE trim line was stopped.
Dodge Aries was considered to be a high quality car and that is one of the reasons for a great acceptance of this vehicle in United States market in the 1980s.
