Chevy Corsica
The Chevy Corsica is a mid-sized car that was produced by General Motors and manufactured in Delaware and New Jersey. The Corsica made its first appearance in 1987 and was discontinued after 1996. Although first put out on the market in 1987, it was not sold mainstream at this time, but instead only sold to car rental agencies and large corporations. In 1988, after having goine mainstream, this car was the second most sold car in the United States and was even, during its peak time, the second most car out of the Chevy lineup. It was even awarded the honor of being the Motor Trend's "Car of the Year", and that already in its first year after being released.
The Chevy Corsica came in both a sedan and a hatchback form and over the years was available with four trim levels (base, LT, LTZ and the seldom found XT version), however, it was always a four door car and that regardless of which version. The hatchback version was first introduced in 1989, but was already discontinued after the 1991 model. The base trim level was only available between 1987 and 1990, and after 1990 only the LT and LTZ bases were available. From 1987 to 1989 there was also an XT trim available. This is a rarely found trim and included features such as a leather interior, special body package and spoiler. In 1995 the Chevy Corsica made car history and became the first American car to be standardly equipped with daytime running lights.
