Toyota Yaris
The Toyota Yaris is a 3 or 5 door hatchback model manufactured by Toyota in built in France and Japan. It first came out in the year 1999 and is still in production. It belongs to the subcompact category and is known to be a great entry level car. The Yaris has a good reputation and was even Toyota's bestseller in Europe. It is also known under many different names, such as the Vitz or Echo, and the sedan version of the Yaris, the Belta, is even considered to be a separate car and Toyota makes great efforts to differentiate between the Yaris and Belta.
The Toyota Yaris has a wide variety of different engines available. They range from the very economical 1.0 L with four cylinders to the 1.5 L with four cylinders and 106 hp. The sport trim, RS, even has a more powerful engine. The RS engine is a 1.5 L turbo with four cylinders and offers an impressive 150 hp. Since 2003, there is even a diesel engine available in Europe, the 1.4 L four cylinder diesel with 75 hp. This diesel engine is even used by BMW, through a license agreement, for their diesel models of the Mini Cooper.
In the United States, the Toyota Yaris is a relatively new model. Its counterpart in Canada, the Echo, has already achieved very high sales quotes and Toyota hopes that the Yaris will appear to American drivers looking for an economical vehicle.
