Chevrolet Tracker
Chevrolet GEO Tracker was launched in 1989 together with Metro GEO and Spectrum GEO as a new make for GEO's. Geo Tracker has been a SUV mini that was manufactured from 1989 to 2004. This model was better than SJ410/LJ80 model. At the beginning it has been known as Escudo Suzuki and later it was a re-badge of Tracker. It has been sold by Chevy and GMC in Canada like Tracker, before Geo Tracker came on sale and was sold in Canada, by Suzuki, having the name 'Sidekick'. It was as well sold through Pontiac and Asuna having the name of Sunrunner by 1997 that has been sold exclusively in Canada. In 1999, however Sidekick was stopped, and a 2nd generation of Tracker that was a re - badge of Grand Vitara Suzuki. In Mexico, a new generation of Tracker was maintained in production being sold under the denomination Chevrolet Tracker. In 2004, Tracker series started to be discontinued in North America, but all the models including LJ80 Jimny are now in production in different Suzuki companies. After being discontinued being called Geo brand in 1998, the Tracker has been constantly renamed Chevrolet.
The pattern seemed to be a SUV comfortable for passengers, but then it has been bolstered through a sturdy off road 4 wheel driving system having a traditional light truck engine and transmission which is coupled to a hi-lo, 2 to 4 transferring case. It has a powerful frontal suspension having as well a rugged recirculation steering box like a ball. Modifications have been made in 2002 only to change the model.
